Bespoke LED mirror – 7 decisions before ordering
A bespoke LED mirror can be sized and shaped for a particular bathroom, dressing room or hallway, with lighting selected for the space. The result depends on more than the appearance of the glass. The power supply, light colour, position relative to the basin and furniture, and installation method all need to be planned. What does this project show?
The round pane is surrounded by a soft halo which separates the mirror from the wall and adds another layer of light to the room. This differs from lighting directed only forwards: backlighting creates atmosphere and emphasises the shape, but may not replace task lighting needed for detailed make-up or shaving.
The project should therefore begin with function. If the mirror is intended to provide the main task light, the emission direction, intensity and other fittings need to be assessed. If it is primarily decorative, a soft halo and coordination with the wall finish may matter more.
How should the shape and dimensions be chosen?

Approximate dimensions are sufficient for an initial quotation, but the distances from tile edges, furniture, sockets and fittings must be confirmed before production. A single measurement is not sufficient for an irregular recess.
Light colour and controls
Warm light creates a more atmospheric effect, neutral light is versatile, and cooler light may feel more technical. Coordinate the colour with the other fittings and the interior palette. Different sources described by the same colour temperature can still look slightly different, so lighting should be considered as a whole.
Control can be linked to a wall switch or to an additional component in the mirror if the selected construction allows it. The cable position and access to the power supply should be agreed during electrical installation. Electrical work must follow the design and rules applicable to wet rooms.
What should be planned for a bathroom LED mirror?
- the exact installation zone and substrate;
- the power supply and switch position;
- distance from the basin, tap, shower and other water sources;
- a light colour coordinated with other fittings;
- space for the structure and ventilation behind the pane;
- any optional equipment to be integrated into the mirror.
The availability of sensors, demister pads, magnifying sections or other functions must be confirmed for the chosen design. Not every option suits every shape and size.
How to prepare an enquiry
- State the required width, height or diameter.
- Attach a photograph of the whole wall and a simple dimensioned sketch.
- Mark the basin, tap, tiles, furniture, sockets and cable position.
- Describe the desired lighting effect and preferred control method.
- State the location, stage of work and intended installation date.

What affects price and lead time?
A quotation depends on pane dimensions and shape, edge processing, the lighting construction, controls, additional functions, substrate preparation, transport and installation. Unusual cut-outs, a complex template or restricted access may increase the work involved. Lead time depends on component availability, the degree of customisation and whether the installation area is ready.
A reliable offer should relate to the agreed configuration, not only the mirror area. A wall photograph and sketch make it easier to identify details requiring clarification.
